During my years of watching horses, I have seen my share of bad horse behavior. Always the very first question I ask myself is, "What would cause that horse to behave in this way?" I'll take a look at the behavior of people dealing with that particular animal. Next, I would take notice of the physical condition of the horse, whether he or she is under-or overweight, what kind of equipment is used on the horse and exactly what it is that is required of that particular animal.
All horses can not be all things. Thoroughbreds, although they are bred to do so, may not want to be a racehorse. Not to be all things to horses or horse jumping horse or horses for young children. Just as we all have different needs, so do horses. You can not sit and say what it is that they love to do, but they can relate to you through their actions. If you ask a horse to consistently jump over fences and deny it or keep knocking down the fence, and it may just not what they want to do.
Thus, from a horse that constantly either denied or ducks or falls into fences as exhibit bad behavior. But, it may be involved other things. Perhaps the horse is trained to often over fences or riding too hard on a daily basis and is forced into this bad behavior. Most of the time in my experience, bad causes behavior problems in horses usually caused by human error. Horses that are not born to be a crazy, some people have. It is because the desires of human requirements or negligence understanding of their needs, making them behave in an unusual way.
Let us say that you are right with a saddle that does not fit your horse. Every time you drive, you are your horse's withers getting more and more sore every time. The muscles begin to atrophy caused less pillows and turn more pain. Does your horse really understand what it is that you ask of her, or is it possible that they may be mistaken? If you have a horse that starts flipping backwards, check your saddle pad and your saddle. Perhaps the bit you use is too heavy, or maybe your horse is really sore back. Perhaps this particular animal needs a different tab. Ask questions about everything.
Sometimes the answer is not very easy to find, but I believe that there is always a solution. However, the solution may not always fit into your realm of things and you have to take that into account. Learn to speak horse language is not something that will come in one or two years. The longer you have horses in your life, the more hours you spend with them, the more you will understand their language and able to communicate with them at their level.
