The simple causes
One reason for green, runny poop is a ferret who did not keep the food in your digestive system long enough. Changing a ferret food quickly, without transition, can be used in digestive disorders that can cause green poop. In addition, there are several stomach bugs (think food poisoning) that can ill fuzzies your current excrement.

Keep your furry friend well hydrated. When he's not eating or drinking, to force him. To force duck soup and water with a syringe, feed him, if necessary, can be fed. (There are a number of recipes for duck soup, but chicken baby food works well.)

The Eeks, or rather, the cause of ECE
If your ferret has only one day green, poop running, you might not need to worry about ECE. But if your ferret is not better right away, he could ECE.

What is ECE?
Epizootic Catarrhal Enteritis (ECE) or green slime disease, is another way that ignites a disease of the mucous membranes, affects the ferret intestine and reached epidemic proportions. This disease came on the scene in 1993, and was finally determined to be a virus. Like the chicken pox in humans, making the animals sick ECE for a few weeks. Once the animal is better, it can still pass the virus to other animals. Estimates for this contagious period varies from 6 months up to the ferret whole life.

What are the symptoms and how the disease is diagnosed?
Veterinarians diagnose the disease in the ferret's symptoms. The disease strikes older fuzzies harder than it does young. What are the symptoms?

Your ferret might vomit.
His or her poop could diarrhetic, and it could have a lot of mucus in it. At other stages in the progression of the disease, the feces may appear shabby as bird food.
You will lack energy and fuzzy will not want to do anything. He may not want to eat or drink.
Your ferret might be dehydrated.

He could ha fever.
How do they get the disease?
Many baby ferret get ECE from their mothers. To recover the baby and, apparently healthy sold in pet stores. When you bring the new baby home, you might have an outbreak.

You or your ferret perhaps to other ferrets that are to be contagious. Your ferret can get it from other ferrets or if you have not washed after handling infectious critters from you ..

How do you treat ECE?
ECE is a virus and there is no cure for it. So, help your baby through the symptoms. Keep yourself hydrated your fuzzy. Make your fuzzy eat. Give your fuzzy a lot of rest and keep it in a warm and cozy environment.

If your ferret is to develop a high fever, take him to the vet. If your baby gets dehydrated, take him to the vet.

Some veterinarians give antibacterial drugs to kill the ferret secondary infections. Some veterinarians give the ferret prednisone to help his appetite....
