How to prepare your cat for a new Ragdoll Kitten

Cats are social animals (even though they sometimes have a poor way of conveying it). They are like you and I want to meet with someone new, cats can be tired and even fear. If you bring a new Ragdoll kitten in the house, you live cat or cats will probably show in various ways how they feel about the new pet.

Here are some things you can expect from your resident cat if they are not introduced to your new friend in the right way:

* Stalking the new kitten * Peeing on the furniture * Ragdoll kitten hissing at the new * Ignore your progress * Attacking the new kitten

To prevent all of these things, here are some ideas close to the "getting to know" stage between your cat a little easier for them and for you.

Safe in the room Keep your new Ragdoll kitten cat away from your residence for about a week or two. On arrival you should denotes a "safe space". The safe room is a sanctuary for your new cat. You want to keep close to the door and ensure that it is safe to keep your kitten from us or so that your cat can not move residence only.

Within the safe space, it should hide numerous areas where your new kitten can. This can help his or her shyness with you and with the rest of the family. You also need to have his or her own litter box, kitty bed and food and water in the room.

Isolation During this stage of insulation your new kitten to the sights, sounds and smells from can to get used to, especially the safe room home. This is also a good time for you to get acquainted with your new kitten. Try him or her get used to your smell during the game or nursing time used. And do not forget, or give him lots and lots of kisses.

Kitten is another advantage of the isolation of the new Ragdoll cat that it may have the possibility of spreading a disease lowers your residence. Even if you want to be sure that before you bring home your kitten, it gets a clean bill from the vet. However, we do not want to overlook the chance that your cat could get sick during his first few weeks, that stays with you.

Introduction Introduction to resident cat should not be a negative thing. Introduction of a resident cat to your new Ragdoll kitten requires strategy and, above all, patience. For starters, you can imagine their smell each other before they actually meet. You can do this by doing a piece of cloth and rub the nose and face of a resident cat on it. Do the same with your new Ragdoll kitten. Then swap the two pieces of fabric and give each to the other. Give them both time and be familiar with each other's smell - you could do this for a few days before they actually meet. Both kittens will know the other is in the house, but take the time for a slow introduction will reap the benefits later.

If you notice that your resident kitty is comfortable with the smell of a new cat, the next step would be to have a look at each other - and you have someone who also lives in the home or someone that the cats are familiar with maintenance the kitten while holding resident cat. Put about 20 meters apart. If she is interested, but does not seem interested in each other aggressively, then closer as 10 ft. away. Continue to do this until they can smell each other from a safe distance - is at a safe distance, that they are not within swatting and hissing area. If they hiss and growl when you're sitting 20 feet away from each other, then you might try the process over several days until you can finally get closer.

Also allow your kitten to your resident kitty safe space to explore, if your kitten exploring your house. It allows them more aware of each other's odors to get either one of them without immediate threat.

As soon as they smelled each other, it's time to have a baby gate or something like that where they can smell each other and see each other, but can not move to another. If you do not see any aggressive behavior from either at this step, then it is time to move to the next step.

Next you want to open the baby gate and let them explore each other. While there is always excitement when introducing new pets, your time with a slow introduction, you deserve peace of mind and a happy home in the long run! Good luck to you and your kitten....
