What makes Betta fish special?

Bettas are one of the most popular types of fish sold and if you are interested in that are one, you should have some betta fish information. Let us make it clear what size tank should have Betta fish if you keep betta fish with other fish, are what the best Betta fish tank mates, and how much do betta fish cost.

Male Bettas are vibrant colored fish with long fins and tails. What most people are not aware of is that there are different types of betas, with a lot of different tail: Veiltail, Crowntail, Combtail, Fantail, Halfsun, rosetail and much more. Both sexes will flare and puff their gills to look impressive, but the male is usually characterized as the females are quite drab in comparison.

What size tank should have Betta fish? We see bettas in pet stores, sold in small containers by itself. Unfortunately, the way they promote it as a fish that can live in just a few ounces of water, which is very, very far from the truth. All these "Betta fish bowls" that are sold in pet stores and online venues, are totally inappropriate and cruel to the fish. Some of them even advertise water change once a month and say Bettas can go without food for days. Not true.

I want to say that Bettas are fish too, and they should not be considered decorations. Most of the time Bettas for children to have a pet to buy, but children should also learn to care for them and to know what will really need their Bettas.

The so-called "Japanese Fighting Fish" actually need at least a gallon of water to live, but the best would be a tank of 3 gallons or more to give your betta a long and healthy life. Although it is said that they live in small puddles in Japanese rice fields, the truth is that they live in the shallow waters of rice fields, but they have to move a lot of space to swim and. You can survive in smaller tanks, as long as they have enough room to move, rotate, and the water every few days, but like I said, I think this is a cruel practice. So, bottom line, Bettas have a real aquarium, and not just a bowl. One advantage they have is, however, that they do not need to set up a complicated filter, an air driven sponge filter, nice to do and will reduce the need for frequent water changes. The water temperature should be between 75 and 85 degrees Celsius, so you might need a heater to keep the temperature constant.

Remember, they need good water surface to get their oxygen. You will come to the surface to breathe, and they need to have good oxygen concentration in their water as well. I would recommend that the tank be covered because Betta fish tend to jump, but make sure there is enough space between the cover and the surface of the water, and, of course, that there is enough air coming in

Diet They should be fed a varied diet, which may include Betta pellets with mashed shrimp, wheat flour, fish meal, brine shrimp, bloodworms, and vitamins, but they should be served live or frozen bloodworms, mosquito larvae, brine shrimp or daphnia. The more varied your diet, the healthier they will be, colorful and beautiful. Bettas should be fed daily, removing all uneaten food from the tank as soon as they are done eating.

Betta Fish Tank Mates One of the most frequently asked questions is what happens when you put betta fish with other fish. Contrary to popular belief, there are some proper Betta fish tank mates.

Normally they will even have problems with female Betta fish. They may be held together for a time for breeding female but should then be removed from the container. Never house two or more male Bettas together. They are called fighting fish for a reason.

Female bettas in groups of three or more should be maintained, since women are also territorial and might want to create the rule over others, as odd numbers are always better.

Male Bettas could with fish that have similar tropical temperature and water quality requirements have to be accommodated. Bettas might interfere and smother other fish that are colorful or long, flowing fins, like Fancy Guppies or Mollies.

Not accommodate them with other aggressive fish. Gouramies not good tank mates for Bettas either. These are fish that can breathe from the surface of the water and that they aggressively towards Bettas and vice versa.

Goldfish, as cold water fish, should never be housed with bettas, tropical freshwater fish. Bettas will also nip at the goldfish and this will definitely hurt your goldies.

Some of the fish you should consider how your Betta fish tank mates small species of catfish, such as Corydoras and other Gründler could be. Bettas have fared well in the company of small Neon Tetras and Platys. Shrimp and snails could also good company.

The truth is that Bettas is everything to fight what you put in your tank, so you can try and see what happens with your particular fish, but keep a close eye on them.

Cost as much betta fish? Betta fish pet store can cost anything from $ 1 to $ 10, but you can find betta fish that cost hundreds of dollars. You can find beautiful items for the lower price, but some serious aquarist will do anything to find some of the rarest and most incredibly beautiful Betta species....
